About me... | ||
|
I'm 25y.o. Russian, and I live in Irkutsk (near the Lake Baikal in Siberia). I have Russian, Polish, and Rusyn roots... Of course, I'm crazy with WWI, uniforms, etc. Actually, I'm a kind of fan for Ulanen of European armies :-)

From Irkutsk! There's a fun place! I've always wanted to see Baikal. My lovely fiancee, who's currently in Novorossiisk once said "Sure!" when I requested we visit Irkutsk, but then she complained that the plane fare was too expensive. Oh well. The plane to Krasnodar was just as costly.
Anyway, perhaps I should mention that I am located in Connecticut, USA, 20 miles east of New Haven, 75 miles east of New York City. G |

About visiting Baikal...
|
Feel free to drop me a line at michael@esi.irk.ru, if you are interested. Well, personally I'm a fan of wild tourism (shores of Southern Baikal and Khamar-Daban range on South-Eastern Baikal), but this May I've started to work as a marketing specialist of East-Siberian Steamship Company and studying our tourist firms and their services is one of my objectives. Probably I can be of some help for you :-)

I am from Moscow, the capital of the Russian Federation.
This is a great forum, I should say. As far as I understand, not many people from Russia visit it. The dialogue with the Russian military historians could be very useful for the students of the Austro-Hungarian military past. Of course, the Russians can also learn much from the specialists on Austro-Hungary. Vasilko |

I'm from Primiero Valley/Dolomiten (deutsch:Primoertal) in south-east Welschtirol/Trentino:many compliments for this wonderful site! My grandfather and his brother were bought officers (leutnant) in K. und K. Armee (2. Kaiserjaeger Regiment) during the war against Russia in Galizia.
Thank you all, and always "Viribus Unitis"!! |

Hello everyone!
I just found this site--It's wonderful--I am an advanced WWI Austro Hungarian millitaria collector. My wife is from croatia-fumia A-H's Adriatic port. I live in southern Indiana. I have interest in A-H history, arms and militaria. I am a young retired 55 year old banker. I am familiar with you Heinz through TUCO's internet site & your reputation. I call Heino H. my friend as well as Josep S. all met in the US. |

Reading "oraetlabora/Jason Kudma's" comment, I find it interesting that there is a person also interested in Austro-Hungarian military history in the Twin Cities. I live in the "other" city. That is St. Paul. I am not originally from here, although I am American born but of Irish, Welsh and apparently English heritage. I collect A-H toy soldiers, military miniatures and books.

Was your family moved in Akcja Wisla after World War II?

No, my family left Galizia of their own will
|
Akcja Wisla was carried out in Western Galizia (from Beskid Sadecki to Bieszczady). My family lived in Eastern Galizia which after WW.II was a part of USSR. They declared polish nacionality after WW.II despite they are "pure Galizians", mixture of Poles, Ukrainians, Jews, Austrian Germans and even one Italian.

Hi!,
I'm from Brisbane, Australia (am I the third or fourth Australian to reply?) I have been interested in everything A-H for the last 35 years. I collect and manufacture Toy Soldiers ("Doppel Adler Soldaten"- the A-H Armee in 1914) and I "stray" into militaria occasionly. And, of course, I spend a lot of money on books! (reading Rothenberg's "Army of Francis Joseph"; and Frederic Morton's "Thunder at Twilight, Vienna 1913-1914" at the moment) I do enjoy this site. Keep up the good work. |

Where we are from and going!

I stated my Grandfather came to Arizona from
Marlburg/Maribor in 1919. He served in the 127th Infantry Regiment. I find this site very interesting that people from all over the World have a common bond of the Austro-Hungarian Army. I have a new wrinkle to add ..... as my Grandfather was a reserve officer pulled to active duty ........ my Marine Corps Reserve Armored Company has been called to active duty ...assigned to 1st Marine Division - 2nd Armored Battalion. I look forward to future info on k.u.k. Tom |
